Greek Government Scholarships for Foreign Students 2015-2016

Greek Government Scholarships for Foreign Students 2015-2016

Overview

The Greek Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs awards scholarships to foreign nationals who want to study at Greek universities or research centres. The scholarships cover the academic year 2015-2016, and there is also a summer seminar in Greek Language and Civilization for summer 2015. Both undergraduate and postgraduate studies are supported, as well as research. If you are from one of the eligible countries and plan to study in Greece, this could fund your tuition, living costs and more.

All scholarships include a monthly allowance: 400 euro for undergraduate studies, or 450 euro for postgraduate studies or research. You also get a lump sum for settlement expenses of 500-550 euro, a one-off annual payment of €150 for transportation, and exemption from tuition fees (only for undergraduate studies). Free medical treatment in case of an emergency is provided, but only in Public Hospitals (for nationals of EU member states, the European Health Insurance Card applies).

For postgraduate studies or research, note that if you also want to take Greek language courses, you will not be exempt from tuition fees. You must choose a postgraduate programme that does not charge tuition. If your chosen programme is not free of charge, you will have to pay the tuition fees yourself.
