Subjects and level

Only NFP-qualified courses are covered. Use this link to find a short course, then get in touch with the Dutch higher education institution offering it to check whether that course is NFP-qualified.

Who can apply

The NFP target group is made up of professionals who hold nationality of, and both work and live in, an NFP country. Your chances of getting an NFP fellowship go up if you live and work in Sub-Saharan Africa and/or if you are a woman.

What the award covers

An NFP fellowship tops up the salary the fellow should keep receiving while studying. It puts money towards living costs, tuition fees, visas, travel, insurance and thesis research. Where this applies, the fellowship holder is expected to pay the gap between the real costs and the personal NFP allowances they receive.

Eligibility requirements

The NFP is for professionals who are nationals of, and work and live in, one of the 51 NFP countries. Candidates have to be nominated by their employer to be eligible for the fellowship. There also has to be a clear need for training within the context of the organisation.

Read the complete eligibility criteria at the official website. You must also meet the eligibility requirements of the programme you are applying for.

How to apply

You need to apply directly with a Dutch higher education institution of your choice. Please contact the institution that offers the NFP-qualified course of your choice to ask for the application procedure. Only the Dutch institution will provide information about the programmes, selection criteria, application procedures and deadlines. Deadline varies depending on the course but is around March, July, or October 2017.
