Overview

The Skoll MBA Scholarship pays the full tuition and college fees for the Oxford MBA and adds a contribution toward living costs. It is run for incoming MBA students who use entrepreneurial approaches to tackle urgent social and environmental problems. Winners also get access to meetings with established entrepreneurs, thought leaders and investors.

What the award covers

The award covers the full cost of tuition and college fees for the MBA programme. It also provides additional funds as a contribution towards living expenses.

Eligibility requirements

1. Entrepreneurial action

  • You have spotted opportunities and taken steps to create positive social impact.
  • You have preferably spent at least 3 years driving change through entrepreneurial approaches. For instance, you may have:
    • Started or grown a social venture;
    • OR led the expansion of a social impact initiative within an organisation;
    • OR worked on a specific social or environmental issue through a core thread that ties your work together.

2. Creating impact with a focus on systems change

  • You can show the outcomes and impact of your entrepreneurial action.
  • Your impact challenges unjust systems and practices in your area of work.

3. Personal qualities of a social entrepreneur

  • You are a force for positive change.
  • You are single-minded and persistent, and willing to fail and start again.
  • You have a bias toward action.
  • You tend to explore your environment for opportunities and resources.
  • You are willing to take personal, and sometimes financial, risks.
  • You build networks and use members to pursue shared goals.
  • You have apprenticed with the problem or experienced the problem you are trying to solve.

4. The Oxford MBA is critical to your career trajectory

  • You can explain why business education is essential for developing your work or impact at this stage.

5. Financial need

  • You are in a position where the cost of the programme is a significant financial burden.
  • You can demonstrate the need for the Scholarship, for example through previous work experiences or personal circumstances.

How to apply

Applications are currently closed.

To be considered, you must connect with the Skoll Centre to register your interest. Apply for the Oxford Saïd MBA during stages 1, 2, or 3, including submitting your Skoll Scholarship essays, by 31 August 2022, 12 October 2022 or 4 January 2023, respectively. After you receive confirmation that you have been accepted onto the MBA programme, the Skoll Centre will send you a link to the second part of the scholarship application.
