Global Study Awards for International Students (ISIC, StudyPortals, British Council IELTS)

Global Study Awards for International Students (ISIC, StudyPortals, British Council IELTS)

Overview

The Global Study Awards puts up to £10,000 toward studying abroad at undergraduate or postgraduate level. The ISIC Association, StudyPortals and British Council IELTS run the award, and students from any country can apply.

You choose the programme and the higher education institution; the award money goes toward that study abroad period. The one firm limit is that the award cannot fund study in your own country. A successful candidate cannot use The Global Study Awards to study domestically.

The aim is to get young people to study in another country so they experience new cultures and languages.

What the award covers

A single Global Study Award is worth a maximum of £10,000. The money is paid straight to the higher education institution you will attend, and it goes toward tuition fees first.

If your tuition fees come to less than the £10,000 maximum, the rest can go toward living costs as a per diem. That living support runs for a maximum of 52 weeks, counted from the date you first registered at the institution.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible for The Global Study Awards, applicants must meet all of these conditions:

  • Be 18 years or over on 1 January 2015.
  • Have taken an IELTS test at a British Council centre and hold an official Test Report Form (TRF) issued by the British Council in the last 2 years and before the application deadline.
  • Hold a valid International Student Identity Card (ISIC) and/or International Youth Travel Card (IYTC) at the time of application.
  • Plan to enrol on a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate programme abroad between 1 January 2016 and 30 April 2016 (Round 1), or between 1 August 2016 and 31 October 2016 (Round 2).
