Support covers only the thesis component of a Master’s Research degree, for up to 1 year of full-time enrolment. The tuition waiver is partial: it covers your thesis tuition up to NZ$35,000. If your tuition is higher than that, you pay the remaining amount. Check the current tuition rate with the International Office.
Eligibility requirements
You must meet all of these conditions:
- You are obtaining your first Master’s qualification.
- You are an international student.
- You are undertaking a thesis-based Master’s.
Selection is based mainly on academic merit and your potential for research. Because the number of scholarships is limited, you need very good grades to succeed. The University only recommends applying if your grades in the later years of your degree are at A or A+ level. Read information on grade requirements for University of Otago scholarships for international students.
