Overview

The Axel Adler Scholarship is the University of Gothenburg’s main scholarship programme for fee paying students pursuing eligible Master’s programmes at the University.

Subjects and level

Any full-time, Masters  programmes offered at the University including the Bachelor’s programme (only Software Engineering, International Relations and Business and Economics)

Awards available

There is one scholarship awarded for each programme and 4 for Master’s programmes within the Fine, Applied and Performing Arts and programmes in Music and Performance

There are also up to 12 Axel Adler scholarship for Sustainability 2026  for students studying a sustainability focused study programme.

What the award covers

Scholarships cover the tuition fee of the programme you are admitted to. It is a tuition fee waiver only; no additional financial support for living expenses or travel grants are provided.

Eligibility requirements

You are eligible to apply for the scholarship if you meet the criteria listed below:

  • • You are required to pay tuition in Sweden.
  • • You need to apply for an international campus-based programme at the University of Gothenburg, as your first priority.
  • • You need to submit your application for studies by 15 January 2026 and pay the application fee and document your eligibility for studies by 2 February 2026 through www.universityadmissions.se.

How to apply

Applications are currently closed.

To be considered for the scholarships, you must have applied for a Master’s Programme via universityadmissions.se by 15 January 2026. Only applicants with a University of Gothenburg programme as their first priority are eligible to apply for a scholarship.

Eligible students will receive an email with application instructions around 10 February 2026.
