This is the third year that The New School has run the competition, which lets students worldwide use their skills to win a scholarship for one of five undergraduate divisions. To be considered, international applicants who plan to begin undergraduate studies in fall 2015 must enter the competition and apply to their chosen participating division by 1 February 2015. The five divisions are: Parsons The New School for Design (NYC or Paris campus), Eugene Lang College The New School for Liberal Arts, The New School for Drama, The New School for Jazz & Contemporary Music, and Mannes College The New School for Music. A total of ten scholarships will be given: one full-tuition and one partial-tuition scholarship for each of the five schools.
Who can enter the competition?
The competition is open to students from around the world who will start undergraduate studies in fall 2015. High school students graduating after summer 2015 may also take part and try to win one of five iPad minis.
Here’s how it works:
- Register for the competition.
- Answer the multiple-choice questions.
- Submit a video explaining “Why You Are New School”.
- Apply to your chosen division of The New School.
Judges will assess applicants on their quiz performance and the quality of their video presentations. The best submission for each division wins a full-tuition scholarship; second-prize winners receive a partial-tuition scholarship.
